Education is a fundamental source of learning and to successfully meet the demands of integrated human beings and to maintain social structure of civilized culture. In pursuance of the prevalent concepts of perpetual educational and scientific growth of significance resulting in technical prosperity and economic stability it is mandatory for a community and a society to develop strong higher education and scientific base in line with current concepts and precepts.

Universities and Post-Graduate Institutes are institutions of higher education and research designed to produce perpetual learning resulting in much desired research and development.

Institute of Molecular Sciences & Bioinformatics, Lahore, Pakistan, is a Post Graduate facility where research and graduate teaching is performed with the aim to explore growth and better understanding of science and scientific realities and their perception. Scientific research, seminars and meetings, discussions in the area of education and science are the means to promote science and its understanding. Computer assisted scientific studies is the focus of investigations at the Institute and emphasis is exercised to answer many unanswered questions of realities that are difficult to respond in classical scientific experimental procedures. Computer based investigations have the potential of exploring experimentally difficult areas and have the capacity to guide experimentalist to verify significantly important areas predicted by computer designs. 

The current studies at the Institute focus on to learn mechanism of  multifunctional behavior of proteins, transitory proteins, transcriptional factors, transitory genes and modification of proteins and glycoproteins. In addition to investigations of functional modifications of different proteins, modification potential of proteins relevant to phosphorylation and glycosylation on  hydroxy and amino functions of amino acids is studied. Programs are being  developed to predict modification potential  of proteins to facilitate learning and understanding of the multifunction nature of diverse proteins in vivo.

The Institute have the services of established investigators, and young and dynamic professionals conversant with biological-biochemical, statical and computational sciences. Several senior investigators (Professors) from abroad   are collaborating with the Institute’s staff and this indeed is a great asset. The Institute has been functioning since 2000 and it has to its credit several research publications, published nationally and internationally.
